Maven House

Maven House is a luxurious double storey eco retreat that overlooks a large reserve and is close to the beach and town centre of Portarlington.

Upstairs is the main living area which features Tasmanian oak flooring throughout. The formal lounge room is tastefully decorated and includes a large TV and comfortable seating. This area can be sealed off by closing a massive timber sliding panel. The adjoining kitchen has black stone benches and is fully equipped with quality appliances including an induction cooktop, self-cleaning oven, microwave, coffee machine, semi-integrated dishwasher and fridge. The dining table seats 6 people and there are stools under the island bench. A sliding glass door leads from the dining area onto a large balcony where you can enjoy sweeping rural views and glimpses of the bay in the distance.

Downstairs has polished concrete flooring in the entry hall, study nook area and in each of the bedrooms.

This home has 3 downstairs bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people.

There are 2 bathrooms, all located downstairs.

All beds are made up with linen and towels are supplied.

This home is environmentally friendly, making full use of its location to capture the winter sun and cross ventilation for cooling. Maximising its thermodynamics coupled with double glazed windows results in exceptional natural temperature regulation. Those with chemical sensitivity or asthma will appreciate that only low or zero VOC paints and varnishes have been used in this home.

Outside are landscaped gardens which feature indigenous flora. The outdoor shower is handy for washing off the sand after a day at the beach.

There is a single carport with extra off-street parking for a second vehicle.

The back of the property backs directly onto the Portarlington Recreation Reserve. Walk out the back gate to extensive parkland and walking tracks which lead to wetlands and a fauna and flora reserve.

Take a one kilometre stroll to the centre of Portarlington where you will find a selection of shops, cafes, the iconic Grand Hotel and a Woolworths supermarket. From here, walk across the foreshore reserve to the beach and the pier where the ferry to Geelong and Melbourne docks.

Within a 5 minute drive of the property are a number of acclaimed wineries. Take a 25 minute drive to the bustling city of Geelong or 40 minutes to the official start of the Great Ocean Road at Torquay.
