South Mokanger Farm Cottages
Experience the privacy and quietness of life on a historic 1800 hectare sheep farm. South Mokanger is located at the southern edge of the Grampians National Park, just 3 hours from Melbourne.
Choose from two fully self-contained and private cottages located on the property.
Stoneycroft Cottage was built by Scottish stonemasons in 1864. This unique and secluded 2 bedroom cottage sleeps up to 6 people with one queen bedroom and a second bedroom with 2 bunks. Combine it with the adjacent shearers quarters and an extra 10 people can be accommodated in its 5 heated and carpeted bedrooms.
Mountain Duck Cottage is a charming home with 4 bedrooms that can sleep up to 9 people with one queen bedroom, one twin room, one bunk room and one double room with a single bunk over.
Both cottages include a wood fire (wood supplied), TV, DVD player, stereo system, quality linen and towels, well equipped kitchens, gas BBQ and covered parking. A portable cot complete with linen can be supplied at no charge. Complementary wine and chocolates on arrival.
Located on the property is a 12 metre in-ground pool with sun lounges and outdoor tables and chairs. There is also a 3 kilometre track down the middle of the property which leads to a creek and offers stunning mountain views in the background.
Guests are invited to observe seasonal farm activities, including shearing during December and January, the feeding of stock and mustering. There are 15,000 sheep, working sheep dogs and chooks that children can feed and collect eggs from.
When staying at South Mokanger Farm Cottages, guests can connect to nature, listen to the birds, enjoy wonderful views or snuggle up in front of the fire during winter.
Majestic 600 year-old red gums and spectacular scenery invite you for country walks or mountain exploring. Visit wineries, golf courses and restaurants nearby or the local village pub just down the road at Cavendish. It is just over an hour to the coast, Port Fairy, Portland and Warrnambool.
