The Miner's Nest
Located in the former gold mining town of Barrys Reef, less than 90 kilometres from Melbourne, The Miner's Nest is a fully equipped 3 bedroom home boasting a touch of Art Deco glamour and countless vintage knick-knacks. Set on half a hectare of gardens with the Wombat State Forest as its backdrop, The Miner's Nest is a warm and welcoming home which sleeps up to 9 guests. Ideal for families, couples and groups and perfect for you next relaxing getaway.
Whilst staying at The Miner's Nest you won't find a TV in the living room, but what you will find to pass the time are couches and arm chairs to bask in the morning sun and watch the wildlife through the large lounge room windows plus cupboards stocked with board games, an assortment of books and an extensive record collection to enjoy whilst sitting by the Coonara fire - a rare opportunity in our technology-centred lives to relax and reconnect with family, friends and nature.
Your unique experience begins upon entering The Miner's Nest where you'll discover the tram stop themed hall way, complete with W-class heritage tram seat and luggage rack.
The fully equipped, modern kitchen with stove, oven, coffee machine, microwave, fridge and dishwasher allows guests the choice of preparing a home cooked meal or dining out. The house not only has a sunny decked area and a front verandah but also a paved back patio area with a BBQ and outdoor dining table.
Of the home's 3 bedrooms, 2 offer queen sized beds with Art Deco wardrobes, and the third bedroom is set up as a children's room, with 3 single beds, a DVD player, books and toys to keep our younger guests amused.
The main bathroom is complete with stunning claw footed bath, double vanity and toilet, and the laundry contains a shower and second toilet.
As well as a Coonara wood fire, the house has a reverse-cycle air-conditioning/heating unit in the main living room, fixed heaters in each bedroom as well as electric blankets on all 5 beds and loads of warm blankets to ensure guests' comfort in the cooler months.
Outdoors younger guests can enjoy the trampoline and swing set, use their imaginations in the cubby house, climb trees in the expansive grounds, roast marshmallows in the fire pit or search the neighbouring forest for evidence of the town's gold rush history.
