The Dogs On Holidays story

The Dogs On Holidays concept was researched and planned out by the team at Travel Victoria, taking over a former website about dog friendly accommodation which was first established in 2001.

In 2012, the new Dogs On Holidays website was officially launched, featuring a diverse collection of dog friendly accommodation properties throughout Victoria.

In 2015, the Dogs On Holidays website was completely redesigned, featuring a contemporary theme with full support for viewing on mobile devices.

What is dog friendly accommodation?

Dog friendly accommodation can include hotels, motels, resorts, apartments, cabins, cottages, houses, units, bed & breakfasts, guest houses, caravan parks, holiday parks and camping sites.

Accommodation specified as being dog friendly means that dogs may stay overnight with their owners and facilities are in place to adequately accommodate your canine friend.

Please note that accommodation classified as being dog friendly can cover a very broad range of pet-friendliness, so not every property will be suitable for every dog and their owner.

Accommodation whereby your dog must be confined to the inside of your vehicle or caravan during your stay is not regarded as being dog friendly.

The accommodation provider may have certain restrictions with regards to dogs staying, including the time of year and the number of dogs. You should always confirm the facilities that are available for your pet with the accommodation provider directly before your arrive, and also clarify any restrictions that may be in place.

Accommodation which hosts multiple groups of guests, like caravan parks and groups of holiday apartments, may only permit guests with dogs in certain parts of the accommodation, such as specific dog friendly cabins or only on camping sites. Ensure you consult the dog conditions listed for each property for further details. The inclusion of any part of an accommodation property which is not dog friendly in a property listing is to illustrate the full range of options available in case you decide not to bring your pet with you or if you are travelling in a group and some group members don't have dogs and wish to stay on the same property as you but not in accommodation that is dog friendly.
