Gippsland dog friendly beaches

When can you take your dog onto Gippsland beaches?

Bemm River:

On-lead: all beaches within Cape Conran Coastal Park at any time.

Cape Paterson:

On-lead: any time from 15th April to 30th November and from 6pm to 9am during the rest of the year.

Corinella:

Coronet Bay:

Eagle Point:

On-lead: all beaches at any time except for the beach at the boat ramp and 200 metres northwards between 1st November and 30th April.

Golden Beach:

On-lead: The Wreck Beach, and beach at Shoreline Drive between campsites No.1 and No.6.

Grantville:

Harmers Haven, Kilcunda, Pioneer Bay, Wonthaggi:

On-lead: all beaches at any time.

Inverloch:

Flamingo Beach, Paradise Beach, The Honeysuckles:

On-lead all beaches at any time.

Lakes Entrance:

Between 1st May to 31st October: on-lead on all beaches.
Between 1st November and 30th April: on-lead on all beaches except (1) the beach along southern side of Cunninghame Arm within 200 metres of the footbridge, (2) on the Ninety Mile Beach within 200 metres of the beach access track opposite the footbridge (3) Eastern Beach at Lions Park.

Lakes Tyers Beach:

Between 1st May to 31st October: on-lead on all beaches.
Between 1st November and 30th April: on-lead on all beaches except (1) Lake Tyers Beach Road boat ramp from the car park and 500 metres eastwards, (2) 200 metres each side of the access track at the Red Bluff surf beach.

Loch Sport:

On-lead: Ninety Mile Beach at Causeway, Lions Park, Lake Victoria foreshore.
Off-lead: various areas along other parts of Lake Victoria foreshore - check signs.

Mallacoota:

Prohibited: all beaches within Croajingalong National Park.
Prohibited from 1st November to 10th April: (1) beach from Bastion Point to Develings Inlet, (2) Betka Beach within 200 metres of the Betka River mouth, (3) Secret Beach, (4) Quarry Beach, (5) Davis Beach.
On-lead: all beaches not covered by the time and location restrictions above.

Marlo:

On-lead: beaches within Cape Conran Coastal Park at any time.
On-lead: all other beaches at any time except for the beach at the sailing club and 1.2 kilometres eastwards between 1st November and 30th April.

Metung:

On-lead: all beaches at any time except for the beach along the west side of Shaving Point between 1st November and 30th April.

Paynesville:

Between 1st May to 31st October: on-lead on all beaches.
Between 1st November and 30th April: on-lead on all beaches except (1) beach along The Esplanade between the yacht club and craft centre, (2) from Old Camp Road boat ramp to 500 metres westwards, (3) from Kings Road boat ramp to the aquatic club tower.

Port Albert, Port Franklin, Port Welshpool, Toora, Woodside Beach, Yanakie:

On-lead: all beaches at any time.

Raymond Island:

Between 1st May to 31st October: on-lead on all beaches.
Between 1st November and 30th April: on-lead on all beaches except on beach and within foreshore reserve at Point Montague.

Sandy Point:

Off-lead: beach at Ned Neals lookout (western end of Beach Parade).
On-lead: all other beaches at any time.

Venus Bay:

On-lead: between No.1 and No.5 Beach from 6pm to 9am between 1st December and 31st March, and at any time during the rest of the year.

Walkerville:

On-lead: Walkerville North and Walkerville South beaches from 6pm to 9am between 1st December and 31st March, and at any time during the rest of the year.

Waratah Bay:

On-lead: within township beach and west to Cooks Creek from 6pm to 9am between 1st December and 31st March, and at any time during the rest of the year.

Important note

Dogs are not permitted at any beaches within Wilsons Promontory National Park.
