When can you take your dog onto Great Ocean Road beaches?

Aireys Inlet, Fairhaven:

Anglesea:

Apollo Bay:

On-lead: beach between the harbour and Marriners Lookout Road from 7pm to 9am between 24th December and 30th April, and any time during the rest of the year.
Dogs permitted: at any time on all other beaches.

Jan Juc:

Johanna:

On-lead: all times on Johanna Beach between Johanna River and western bluff.

Kennett River:

On-lead: beach in the vicinity of the surf lifesaving club from 7pm to 9am between 24th December and 30th April, and any time during the rest of the year.
Dogs permitted: at any time on all other beaches.

Lorne:

Marengo:

On-lead: beach between Hayley Point and Ocean Park Drive from 7pm to 9am between 24th December and 30th April, and any time during the rest of the year.
Dogs permitted: at any time on all other beaches.

Peterborough:

  • Dogs permitted on-lead at all times along beaches within Bay Of Islands Coastal Park from Bay of Martyrs to Peterborough Golf Course

Port Campbell:

Dogs are not permitted on the beach or foreshore.

Port Fairy:

Portland:

On-lead: foreshore and beach between Lee Breakwater and yacht club at any time.
On-lead: Nuns Beach from 9am to 6pm between 1st December and Easter Tuesday, and off-lead any time during the rest of the year.
Dogs permitted: all other beaches at any time, except those within Discovery Bay Coastal Park.

Skenes Creek:

On-lead: entire beach area from 7pm to 9am between 24th December and 30th April, and any time during the rest of the year.

Torquay:

Warrnambool:

Wye River:

On-lead: each between foreshore camping ground and public toilet block from 7pm to 9am between 24th December and 30th April, and any time during the rest of the year.
Dogs permitted: at any time on all other beaches.

Important note

Dogs are not permitted within the Port Campbell National Park. This restriction also includes the 12 Apostles.
