When can you take your dog onto Melbourne beaches?

City of Bayside:

This includes Beaumaris, Black Rock, Brighton, Hampton and Sandringham.

City of Hobsons Bay:

Dogs must be on-leash at all beach areas at all times except for the following beaches where dogs are prohibited between 10am and 9:30pm from 1st November to 30th April:

  • Altona Beach - between Sarros Street and Bayview Street
  • Williamstown Beach - between Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club (opposite Victoria Street) and Shelly's Beach Pavillion (opposite Garden Street)

City of Kingston:

This includes Aspendale, Bonbeach, Carrum, Chelsea, Edithvale, Mentone, Mordialloc and Parkdale.

City of Port Phillip:

This includes Albert Park, Elwood, Middle Park, Port Melbourne and St Kilda.

City of Wyndham:

Off-lead: Campbells Cove at Werribee South, between car park at eastern end of Campbells Cove Road and RAAF Williams Point Cook Base.
